Its course was designed by Donald Ross (built concurrently with his work on Pinehurst No. 2) and plays to a par of 72 across roughly 6,429 yards, relying on challenging greens and bunkering rather than water hazards. The club traces its founding to 1898, relocating to its current Churchill site in 1922.
